Get Involved

Make a meaningful difference in your community

Whether you’re ready to take the pledge, spread the word, or elevate your commitment by becoming a partner, your involvement can make a meaningful impact in our community.

How to Get Involved

Community Members

Help Your Neighbors

After taking the pledge, do your part to lend a helping hand to someone in need by volunteering to clear their sidewalk, steps, driveway, and/or porch within the city ordinance after a snow event. If you cannot provide help during or after snow events, try your best to identify an alternative source of support ahead of time.

Spread the Word

Encourage your friends, family, coworkers, and community members to become part of the movement by spreading the word that we need community-wide support to tackle sidewalk snow removal in Duluth. Plus, share stories, photos, and videos of you lending a helping hand online using the hashtag #beminnesnowtanice.

Pave the Way

Take the initiative to clear your sidewalk within 24 hours of a snowfall, considering the accessibility needs of wheelchairs and assistive walking devices. Remember to pile snow in your yard, avoid illegal disposal into streets and alleys of your property, and clear curb cuts, crosswalks, and paths to ensure accessibility and safety for all.

Businesses and Organizations

Become a Partner

Champion the movement by becoming a valued partner and actively promoting the campaign to your employees and the community members you serve. Whether incorporating the campaign directly into your marketing or the overarching message in your communications, your involvement can make a meaningful difference.

Share Success Stories

Highlight success stories of sidewalk snow removal helpers and those they support by sharing their stories, photos, and videos using the hashtag #beminnesnowtanice online or submit them directly to hello@beminnesnowtanice.com. Please ensure you have permission to share any stories, photos, or videos before posting or submitting them.

Lead by Example

Demonstrate your commitment by promptly clearing your sidewalks during and after snow events—including nearby bus stops and adjacent properties, where snow clearing may be overlooked. If possible, consider allocating additional funds to address the escalating costs of snow and ice removal, including the impact of climate change.
